- Age
- 21 – 36 years (General)21-36 for Group A & B (General). 21-39 for Group C and D (lower-level). Upper age relaxed: OBC +3, SC/ST +5, PwBD +8, Ex-servicemen 3 years after service deduction.
- Education
- Bachelor's degree (any discipline) from a recognised university.
- Bengali language paper (compulsory Bengali) at Mains stage. Candidates who studied Bengali up to Class 8 or beyond are eligible.
- Candidates not having Bengali as a language paper at school can apply but must qualify the Bengali Mains paper.
- Attempts
- No formal attempt limit other than the upper age cap.
- Nationality
- Indian citizen.

WBPSC released the official WBCS Prelims Answer Key 2026 on 24 June via Notice 1041-PSC/CON(Q). The objection window was open from 30 June to 6 July 2026. Final answer key will determine Prelims result.
The West Bengal Civil Service Preliminary Examination 2026 was held on 14 June 2026 across Kolkata and 25 district centres. Exam was conducted in a single shift from 12 PM to 2:30 PM with moderate difficulty level reported by candidates.
WBPSC released the WBCS Prelims Admit Card 2026 on 4 June for candidates appearing in the exam under Advertisement No. 08/2024. Candidates downloaded hall tickets from psc.wb.gov.in using enrolment number and date of birth.
