Common Mistakes

• **Using passive with intransitive verbs** → Remember: Only transitive verbs (with objects) can be passivized. "He sleeps" cannot become "Sleeping is done by him."

• **Forgetting to change pronoun case** → "He" must become "him," "she" must become "her," "they" must become "them" in the "by" phrase.

• **Wrong form of "be" verb** → Match the "be" verb to the original tense. Simple past needs "was/were," not "is/are." Present perfect needs "has/have been," not "was/were."

• **Using "being" in perfect tenses** → "Being" is used only in continuous tenses. Present perfect passive is "has been done," NOT "has being done."

• **Omitting "been" in perfect tenses** → "The letter has written" is wrong. Correct: "The letter has been written."

• **Changing the tense** → The passive must preserve the original tense. If active is past, passive must also be past.
