  • **Confusing energy-giving with body-building foods.** Students often say "dal gives energy." Fix: Dal (pulses) are protein-rich, hence body-building. Rice and roti are the primary energy givers.
  • **Thinking vitamins provide energy.** Fix: Vitamins and minerals are protective nutrients; they regulate body processes but do not supply calories.
  • **Labelling all fats as unhealthy.** Fix: Fats are essential for absorbing vitamins A, D, E, K and for brain development in children. The issue is excess fat, not fat itself.
  • **Mixing up Kwashiorkor and Marasmus.** Fix: Kwashiorkor is protein deficiency (swollen belly, oedema); Marasmus is overall calorie-protein deficiency (extreme thinness, wasting). Both indicate protein-energy malnutrition but differ in presentation.
